Camp Leatherneck
Camp Leatherneck is a 443-acre, United States Marine Corps base located in the Helmand Province. It is currently home to the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, now referred to as MEB-Afghanistan, (nickname: Task Force Leatherneck). Located in the middle of the desert next to Camp Bastion, Camp Leatherneck is divided into four areas and is still undergoing construction as troop levels continue to rise in support of NATO’s, International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
FOB Salerno
FOB Salerno (also known as Firebase Salerno) is a forward operating base of the U.S. military in south eastern province of Khowst, near the city of Khost in Afghanistan about 15 kilometers from the Pakistan border.
The facility was occupied by the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and was named for the beachhead in Salerno that the 509th parachuted onto on September 14, 1943 (Operation Avalanche). It has been nicknamed “Rocket City” due to the large amounts of incoming rocket and mortar fire in previous years.
It is the main Coalition hub for operations in southeastern Afghanistan.
Kandahar Airbase
Kandahar Airfield has been occupied and maintained by the U.S. military since 2001 when the Marines landed and took over control of the airport. Since 2006 the airfield has been maintained by the Canadian Forces, but there are also other NATO forces present.
Although a prominent base for the US and Canadian Forces, many other Armed Forces are based there. British Forces use Kandahar as their main staging post for the South and fly direct into the Helmand province. Fast jets and combat helicopters are also deployed here as this is the main airport in the troubled south-east of the country.
As of 2007, Kandahar Airport has been rebuilt and is used for both military and civilian flights. It is sometimes difficult to locate the airport from the sky during day-time because of lack of contrast with the ground and the usual dust or haze in the area. But during night time the runway is well lit up and can easily be spotted.
Camp Bastion
Camp Bastion is the main British military base in Afghanistan. It is situated northwest of Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand Province. It is the largest British overseas military camp built since World War II.
Built in early 2006, the camp is situated in a remote desert area, far from population centers. Four miles long by two miles wide, it has an airstrip and a field hospital and full accommodation for the 2000 men stationed there.
The base is divided into 2 main parts, Bastion 1 and Bastion 2. Bastion 2 includes two tenant camps, Camp Barber (US) and Camp Viking (DK). Bastion also adjoins Camp Leatherneck (US) and Camp Tombstone.
In November 2006, Tony Blair visited Camp Bastion, and, while addressing a gathering of British troops, described it as “an extraordinary piece of desert” “where the fate of world security in the early 21st century is going to be decided.”
A 2,350 meter long and 28 meter wide runway, was built in 2007 that allows C-17s to land.
Kunduz Airfield
The Kunduz Airfield is operated by German troops, and located in the Kunduz Province in northern Afghanistan. There are currently 667 German troops stationed at the Kunduz airfield; of which only 340 are combat-ready.
Violence levels in Kunduz have peaked over the past 18 months, and intelligence reports, as well as Afghan government and tribal elder testimony, suggest that as many as 80 al Qaeda-linked militants, including Uzbeks and Chechens, are operating in areas southwest of Kunduz City.
This area was also the site of the recent air strike on fuel tankers that reportedly killed 70 people, including civilians.

Kamp Holland
Kamp Holland is the Dutch military base (Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT)) on the outskirts of Tarin Kowt, the provincial capital of Uruzgan province in southern Afghanistan. The Dutch are present in Uruzgan as part of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan.
Kamp Holland was a U.S. base (known as Forward Operating Base (FOB Ripley) until ISAF assumed control for Afghanistan’s security in August 2006 and the U.S. turned over the base to the Netherlands.
Approximately 1,100 Dutch and 360 Australian personnel are stationed at Kamp Holland. The staff of Task Force Uruzgan and a Dutch AH-64D Apache detachment are deployed at Kamp Holland as well.
Camp Joyce
Camp Joyce is an American combat base in the Kunar Providence of Afghanistan near the Pakistan border. The base is named for Marine Lance Corporal Kevin Joyce who was killed here in June, 2005.
Only six Americans operate this facility as Embedded Training Team members. They train and fight with soldiers from the Afghan National Army and their base frequently comes under fire from Taliban forces.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ…..I am Belgian, Flemish but my heart goes out to the American soldiers, their family and their nation. I thank you all for the sacrifices that your anscestors brought to set us here free during WW2. Thanks to them I lived in freedom since birth till today. Accept my support in prayer for all of you….soldiers, families and friends….I pray the Lord Almighty, the Living Rock of Israel that He might send His Power and Divine Army to these places of hell to deliver and to conquer all evil!! Lord, let Your River flood and give Life!! Let the ground under the feet of these soldiers be Your Ground Lord!! Step by step we can conquer by prayers and by the work of all these men!! King of Kings, we bow for You and want that everyone in this army of liberation might learn to know You and enter into a living relationship with You!! I come to ask You Lord, being Your friend, as You promissed us…..save these men, women and families!! Let these areas get visions of You Jesus!!! As You did it so many times in Algerian, Lord visit these soldiers and the afhane population with Your Power and Blessing!! Show us Your Miracles Lord and bless those who have to grieve that may stand with You Lord!!! Amen!!!

Almighty God, the God of battles,
“The battle belongs to the LORD” please show your intercessors the strongmen over the Afghan peoples. Please tell us which to bind in the Name of the stronger-man Jesus (Luke11:22)We ask the Holy Spirit to come to those seeking the truth no matter the price. Protect your Body in this land- both Afghan & other nationalities. Lord Jesus please visit Taliban & other enemy soldiers in their dreams & change them into disciples of Jesus. Protect them also.
Remind your military leaders that you are the Lord of all things including this campaign. Grant them wisdom & patience in strategy & the application of that strategy, particularly when they relate to the Afghan & Pakistan politicians & their officials. Please protect, give wisdom, humour, common-sense & interest in Afghan culture to the men. Build bridges across the divide. “Nothing is impossible with God”

LORD, I thank you that you have kept our son, Joe safe from the enemy. He has one month left…please continue to protect him until he is home again! Send your spirit to dwell in him and give him peace, strength and courage to face each day. Stay with him in a way that he knows, without a doubt, that you are there at all times. Be with all of our beloved troops, who serve their country gladly. May they know you and your infinite grace. Amen
I am praying everyday for these soldiers and everyone else. May the Lord protect them and guide them…..as our son just finished with basic training and infantry school this Oct and now is at Fort Carson- now in March heading to Afghanistan(northern). Please pray for our son Johnathan Fontaine. Lift him up in prayer always
Dear lord,
My son and his platoon are in afhan. Their vehicle hit a roadside bomb (IED)last week, my son was driving the vehicle. I thank you Lord for watching over them, they only sustained minor injuries. Alot of people really do not understand how lucky we are to have the freedom we have, and what we take for granted including my family. But when you have a loved one over there fighting for our country things fall in a whole different perspective.I ask you to please watch over all the men and women there day and night and please bring them home safely. Dear Lord, please keep my son and our troops safe and frre of harm and bring them home safe and healthy. I ask you to bring peace to this area od the world and also watch over the poor children and families who suffer. I thank you Lord for so much and yet I still ask for more. I trust in you Lord. Amen.
Dear Lord above all, thank you for all and who you are…our Almighty. Thank you for keeping our Joe safe over in Afghanistan, and continue to surround he and his troops,, and all the troops , with an army of your guardian Angels…to protect them and keep them invisible from the enemy. Give them unlimited courage and strength to face each day. Give Joe peace, that passes understanding, as he thinks of his daughter and wife at home. Protect the little one from any danger and surround her with your guardian angels. Be present in a large way to his wife, who is struggling with her own demons. Jesus son of God the Father, I ask you to please protect all the men and women in Afghanistan that no harm will come to them. I ask that you bring
not only my dear one home safe but the men in his care. I ask you to give strength and faith to those who are there, were there, and will be going there. Thank you God for the many blessings you have bestowed upon us.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray a hedge of protection over my son and his fellow soldiers serving in Afghanistan. Your word says “No evil will befall you, No accident will over take you, for God sends his Angels to protect you in all your ways of service!” Thank God for being with each and everyone of them. Amen
My heart is heavy with concern and intercession for the men and woman that serve in Afghan. Cover them with the blood of Jesus and that no weapons form against them shall not prosper. Amen
Dear God, thank you for sparing the lives of the men who were attacked in the helicopter July 26th…please send Angels to guard their lives a thwart the insurgents …bring our Joe home safely , with all the troops . Let them know in a big way that you are with them always….so they gain strength in you. In Jesus precious name, Amen
Jesus, name above all names, I know that you are one and the same with our Father. I know that you are the most powerful…and are the only one who can protect our troops in Afghanistan. I thank you for all you are doing. There is no way these soldiers could withstand as much for so long without your divine intervention. You know what they need what we need. Please continue to bind the enemy….and protect our Joseph and bring him home to us. Please protect his little girl while he is away, and help him to return and be able to fit in somehow in this “other world” you are our only hope afterall. Thank you.
